The Westpac Future Leaders Scholarship supports students looking to pursue postgraduate research or coursework in areas related to sustainability, technology and innovation, social change, or Australia's relationship with Asia.
The Future Leaders Scholars receive funding (up to $120,000 over 2-3 years) for postgraduate study and living expenses, gain access to leadership and mentorship programs, have the opportunity to undertake overseas travel. and participate in networking experiences with like-minded individuals, senior business leaders and industry-based experts.
Eligibility
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
- Completion of first undergraduate degree from 2021, or completed by 31 December 2026.
- Must commence study by July 2027.
- Study in an area that will contribute to the future of Australia in one of the Trust's priority funding areas: Asia-Pacific Leadership, Innovation for Impact, Connected and Stronger Society, and Sustainable Futures.
- Include in the proposed program of study international opportunities which will develop leadership skills and global networks.
- Have a worthy and viable post-study plan that benefits Australia.
Selection criteria
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Academic excellence and community contributions to date.
- Ability to articulate how the proposed program of study has the potential to contribute to the future growth and prosperity of Australia in one of the Trust's priority funding areas.
- A desire to be a part of and contribute to the Westpac 100 Scholars Network.
- Strong leadership potential and alignment with the attributes of a Westpac Future Leaders Scholar.
