In 2020, Cornelia Elisabeth Van Hattum bequeathed funds to the University of Adelaide’s Florey Medical Research Foundation for the purpose of assisting with and funding stem cell research.

The purpose of the Van Hattum Supplementary Scholarship in Stem Cell Research is to support Graduate Research students undertaking research study in stem cell research.

The value of the supplementary scholarship is $10,000 per year for up to a maximum of three and a half years and $35,000 in total. No extensions will be considered.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you must be:

  • An Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, New Zealand Citizen, Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder or international student;
  • Have commenced or be eligible to commence a full-time Doctor of Philosophy or Master of Philosophy program in the year for which the scholarship is being awarded in the area of stem cell research;
  • A recipient of a major scholarship.

Selection criteria

The scholarship will be awarded via a competitive selection process managed by the Adelaide University Graduate Research School, based on academic merit, research potential and relevance of academic research.
