Microsoft Office End of Life
Microsoft have ended support for a number of Office products on Windows and Mac computers. Detailed information can be found on the Microsoft product lifecycle page. Access to email and Office365 functionality will be disrupted from October 15th 2020. Affected products include:
- Mac (University and Personal Computers) – Office 2016 and below are now out of support
- Windows (University Computers) – Office 2010 and below are now out of support
- Windows (Personal Computers) – Office 2013 and below are now out of support
To address the security vulnerabilities, Information Technology and Digital Services (ITDS) will begin removing affected products from all University machines beginning 15th October 2020. If you are impacted by the removal of older Office products, please contact the ITDS Service Desk who will review your requirements and work with you on a solution.

University computers
ITDS will begin removing affected versions of Microsoft Office from 15th October 2020.
Mac (University Computers) – With most users already upgraded to Office 2019/Office 365, Office 2011 and 2008 will be removed without affecting the newer version. Staff yet to upgrade can install the current version of Office 365 from Mac Self Service to avoid the 15th October 2020 deadline.
Windows (University Computers) - With most users already upgraded to Office 2013, 2016 or 2019, Office 2010 will be removed without affecting the newer version.

Personal computers
ITDS advises you remove affected Office version(s) from your personal device. View Microsoft’s website on how to remove Office from Windows or remove Office from Mac.
To access and install newer versions of Office, view Microsoft’s Download and install or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2019 on a PC or Mac website.
