We know when a student steps into your teaching studio, something magical can happen. The dynamic between a dedicated music teacher and an engaged student is unique, rewarding and priceless. But we also know teaching isn’t easy. It can be challenging and isolated, especially for independent studio music teachers.

That’s why we’ve developed our new AMEB Teaching Syllabuses. So you can learn from the best, embrace those challenges, and be inspired to create that magic.

Our Certificate Teacher of Music Australia (CTMusA) and Associate Teacher of Music Australia (ATMusA) have been developed by international researchers and practitioners in music education.

You’ll gain the knowledge and tools to build or deepen your practice, and establish self-reflective skills so you can continue to grow as a teacher – now and into the future.

Flexible, affordable and practical, the CTMusA and ATMusA are ideal for studio music teachers across all instruments and voice at all levels.

We value the transformative impact music education can have on young lives. We know that behind every accomplished student is a committed music teacher. We’ve developed this syllabus to support you - to encourage you to invest in yourself - so you can become the best teacher you can be and guide your students to success.

Join Dr Emily Dollman, AMEB Teaching Syllabuses contributor and A/Director Music Education and Pedagogy at Elder Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide, and AMEB's Head of Publishing, Steven Hodgson as they take you through the themes and innovative approaches to teaching and learning that underpin AMEB’s groundbreaking new Teaching Syllabuses. They’ll discuss how the AMEB Syllabus can help you, as well as everything you need to know about assessment and enrolling.

Because the best teachers are always learning.

Professional development on-demand

Starting in October, AMEB is launching a series of on-demand professional development (PD) videos, so you can access the latest research on core aspects of music teaching.

We’re inviting the leading music pedagogy researchers who have contributed to our AMEB Teaching Syllabuses Companion Text to take you deeper into their area of expertise.

Each stand-alone video will feature an international expert focusing on their chapter from the Teaching Syllabuses Companion Text. With new videos released regularly, the series will cover everything from developing student motivation to providing effective feedback.

By translating research findings into practical concepts that are relevant and useful to music teachers of all levels, these videos will be a valuable professional development resource - whether you are looking for fresh ideas or working toward your CTMusA or ATMusA.

We’ll share more details at the Teaching Syllabuses webinar or join the AMEB federal office mailing list to find out more.
