ARC Linkage Project on Naracoorte Caves front cover of Naracoorte Herald

The project as detailed in the Media Release, is led by Dr Lee Arnold and Dr Liz Reed in the University’s Environment Institute and School of Physical Sciences, will provide a unique window into a key period of global climate change, animal extinctions and evolution of the modern Australian environment at the World Heritage-listed Naracoorte Caves.

Dr Bastien Llamas has been awarded an ARC Future Fellowship

We would like to formally congratulate Dr Bastien Llamas on his ARC Future Fellowship. Dr Llamas is part of the Australian Centre for Ancient DNA,  one of the top laboratories in the world for ancient DNA research.

A University of Adelaide-led research project will focus on the rich fossil history of Naracoorte Caves and cement its place on the world science stage.

ARC success for EI researchers

A regional optical dating facility in Australia. This project aims to establish an open access, end-user friendly optical dating facility in Australia. This will address shortcomings in the capacity and geographical coverage of the existing national geochronology infrastructure and enable Australian researchers to reconstruct past records of climate change, human evolution, ecological vulnerabilities, natural and man-made hazards and environmental disturbance over historical to near-million-year timeframes. This project is expected to increase commercial demand for geoscience services and lead to better understanding of Australia’s natural heritage and its long-term vulnerabilities.
