IPAS Interim Director Professor Mark Hutchinson – Finalist in the 2024 Australian Museum Eureka Prizes

Finalist, 2024 Eureka Prize for Leadership in Science, Professor Mark Hutchinson is a distinguished medical scientist at the University of Adelaide and the Interim Director of the Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS). Professor Hutchinson is celebrated for his innovative leadership in science, including his contributions to entrepreneurship, start-ups, and influencing government policy. His dedication to STEM advocacy, fostering inclusivity, and mentoring emerging scientists has marked him as a transformative leader in the field.

Reflecting on this honour, Professor Hutchinson shared:

The Australian Museum Eureka Prizes are Australia’s most comprehensive national science awards, celebrating excellence in research & innovation, leadership, science engagement, and school science. Presented annually in collaboration with leading scientific institutions, government organisations, universities, and corporations, these prizes highlight outstanding achievements and elevate the profile of science in the community.

Winners will be announced at the Award Ceremony on Wednesday, September 4.
