Drones
Insurance is available for University staff and students who are licensed to use Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), or drones, as part of their research and learning activities.
It is important that you understand the insurance requirements before engaging in any activities involving RPAS-related activities.
Please refer to the drones (aviation policy) insurance guide for further information about the University's insurance policy.
For more information about the legislative requirements for operating drones please refer to the Civil Aviation Act 1988 (Cth) and Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998 (Cth).
If you are planning a project involving the use of drones please refer to the drones operation checklist to see the steps required.
The University of Adelaide has a team qualified to deal with all operations, compliance and insurance matters related to RPAS use. Please visit the university's Uncrewed Research Aircraft Facility (URAF) website and contact the team at uraf@adelaide.edu.au before starting any RPAS-related activity.
