Global Mobility Risk
Managing Global Mobility activities involves good Risk Management
The University offers different types of overseas experiences for students, including semester or year-long exchanges, two or three week study tours run by our academics, international summer schools hosted by our overseas partner universities, as well as placements, internships, and volunteering opportunities that may range from a week to a few months. These opportunities provide a valuable experience and are an integral part of the overall learning experience.
Faculty approval is necessary for overseas study programs and ensures that this study is creditable towards a University of Adelaide study program. Study Overseas works with the Academic staff to create and facilitate Faculty-led activities, such as study tours. All students travelling overseas for University of Adelaide study activities register through the Student Mobility Applicant Registration Tool (SMART) to centralise information and provide an administrative platform for relevant faculty members, as well as applications for OS-Help and other potential funding options. This also ensures that insurance is available and appropriate for travel.
A risk assessment is required for all University-led overseas mobility activities.
Please complete the Global Mobility Risk Assessment. Use the University Risk Matrix to assess the risk rating.
On completion, please submit the risk assessment to your Head of School for signing. Study Tour Leaders must provide the signed risk assessment to Study Overseas before a study tour may be advertised. Any risk questions can be referred to Risk Service.
