The Waite Research Institute (WRI) drives innovation by supporting high-quality research across the agriculture, food, and wine sectors. WRI has played a key role in strengthening research capability at Waite, including supporting the recruitment of multiple research fellows and contributing to the establishment of major initiatives such as the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plants for Space, Plant Synbio Australia, and the ARC Training Centre for Future Crops Development.
Alongside ongoing activities such as Precinct Seminars and partner engagement activities, the formation of Adelaide University has provided an excellent opportunity to refresh WRI membership and lead the Institute into a new phase of agrifood innovation.
WRI membership
WRI membership recognises and supports researchers contributing to high‑quality, impactful research across the agrifood and wine system. Membership also provides opportunities for connection, collaboration and leadership across colleges, campuses, disciplines, and with research agencies, government and industry partners.
We are now inviting eligible research-active staff and research partners to apply for WRI membership at a level that reflects their role, experience and engagement. Updated membership categories provide flexible pathways for researchers to engage with WRI in ways that align with their career stage and interests.
While opportunities for HDR involvement in WRI activities will be shared at a later date, this membership round is only available for staff and research partners.
Membership policy
WRI membership is guided by:
- The WRI Charter, which sets out the Institute’s purpose and principles; and
- The WRI Membership Policy, which outlines eligibility, membership categories, and expectations of members.
How to apply for membership
Applications are submitted via an online form.
We warmly encourage researchers whose work aligns with WRI’s mission to consider applying.
