Staying Safe at Uni
We are excited to welcome all students to the University of Adelaide.
University is an exciting opportunity for students to come together, connect with your campus and forge friendships that can last a lifetime. Right from your initial interaction on campus, the University of Adelaide is committed to maintaining and strengthening an environment in which individuals feel respected, safe, valued, and welcome.
The University of Adelaide supports lawful freedom of expression and allows peaceful protests by its students that do not reasonably cause others to feel threatened. You will notice signage as you enter the University grounds that stipulate the regulations for demonstrations and protests that all individuals must abide by. Students who do not adhere to the regulations will be in breach of this direction and the University’s Student Code of Conduct.
Student Charter Student Code of Conduct Protest Regulation
Consent and Respectful Relationships is mandatory for all undergraduate and postgraduate students as part of South Australian Universities’ commitment to a safer campus culture. All new students will be automatically enrolled into this module as part of their admission to the University of Adelaide.
We want to emphasise that every member of our community is entitled to a discrimination-free experience. The University will not tolerate or condone any form of unlawful, unfair treatment including harassment, bullying, vilification, racial vilification and racist behaviour, sexual harassment and sexual assault, discrimination, victimisation, inappropriate behaviour, or violence of any kind as outlined in our Student Charter. We celebrate the diversity of our student body, and staff, embracing individuals of different races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and religions.
Support Reporting Training Resources
We all have a role in setting the behavioural standard in the University. If you have knowledge or reason to believe a member of the University community has engaged in inappropriate or improper conduct, you should report it. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your report, additional support is available. The Integrity Unit at the University of Adelaide is first point of contact if you are not satisfied with the outcome of your report.
