What to expect during the exam

During the exam period, there are two sessions per daily. The morning session beginning at 9:00am and the afternoon session beginning at 1:30pm.

The doors to the exam venue will open 10 minutes before the scheduled exam. Please note, once students have entered the exam venue, they are not allowed to leave until 30 minutes have elapsed once the exam has started.

Students are encouraged to use the bathroom facilities before entering the exam venue. You can go to the bathroom inside the exam venue, but only once the exam has started.

There will be announcements made before, during and after the exams. Please ensure you listen to them carefully.

Goyder Pavilion - Seating Plan

I’m at my exam venue. What do I do now?

Check that you have everything you need for your exam and you know your seat number.

For In-Department, Alternative Exam Arrangements (AEA) and Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), you may not have a seat number.

What should I do once the doors are opened?

Students are encouraged to enter the exam venue and find their seats. Each student would have a designated seat for each exam. This can be found in MyAdelaide under the exam timetable.

I’m at my table. What do I do now?

Once seated, students can start writing their details on the front of exam booklet. The attendance slip can be torn off and place on the right-hand side with their Student ID card. DO NOT open the exam paper or start writing until you have been told to do so.

All mobile phones, smart watches and any other wearable technology must be switched off, and placed in your closed bag or place them under your seat. Remove any unnecessary items from pockets and place them under your seat with any other belongings.

What if I need to use the bathroom during the exam?

Remain seated, raise your hand and an invigilator will provide you with instructions.  Security and invigilators will be in place to ensure non permitted materials are not taken into and out of the toilets.

Please note, once you have entered the exam venue, you will need to wait until the exam has started to use the toilet. There are toilets outside of the venue that can be used before entering the exam.

Students will not be able to use the toilet in the last 10 minutes of their exam duration.

I have finished my exam, what do I need to do now?

If you finish your exam early, you can raise your hand to quietly inform the invigilator. Students may not leave the exam venue within the first 30 minutes of the scheduled exam starting, and within the last 10 minutes of the exam.
