Academic Student Representatives are current Adelaide University students who partner with staff to shape teaching, learning, and assessment. The role is about contribution and impact - sharing your own experiences, raising what you're noticing in your classes, and working alongside staff to find practical solutions.

ASRs bring student perspectives into College Student Engagement Committees (CSEC) and degree and discipline-level Student Advisory Groups (SAGs), helping to create spaces where feedback is valued and acted on. You don't need to speak for every student - just show up, engage honestly, and be willing to collaborate.

Meetings are held online or in person from March to November, with training and induction provided before you start.

What you'll get out of it

As well as making a real difference to the academic experience, you'll develop skills in communication, leadership, and collaboration. ASRs receive a certificate of recognition, an invitation to the end-of-year celebration, access to professional development opportunities, and are eligible to claim hours toward the Adelaide University Impact Award. An honorarium may also apply depending on engagement.

Who can apply

The role is open to all current coursework and Graduate Research students across all year levels who can commit to the full academic year.

The International Student Ambassador Volunteer Program connects prospective international students with real student voices from Adelaide University.

Delivered by the Future Student Conversion team through our online peer‑to‑peer Ambassador Platform, the program is managed by a Future Student Experience Officer and designed to offer personalised, authentic insights into life at Adelaide University.

Our 21 International Student Ambassador Volunteers represent 12 countries across North Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, West Asia and Africa, and study across 21 Adelaide University programs in 14 study areas.

Since launching in December 2025, our ambassadors have supported 70 prospective international students at different stages of their future student journey - from early research and application through to enrolment. By sharing their lived experiences as current students, they provide honest, practical and positive insights into student life, support services and opportunities for international students at Adelaide University.

Alongside one‑to‑one conversations, ambassadors have also created 68 pieces of authentic student‑generated content and 36 frequently asked questions, helping future students make informed decisions with confidence.
