Course overview
This course introduces students to a developmental model of how young people grow and mature together and the inextricable relationship this has on the emergence of movement capabilities. The course focuses on the early childhood to adolescent stages of human growth and motor development and encourages a holistic view of development. The knowledge and skills acquired throughout the course will enhance capabilities to teach the whole child using movement as a valuable medium. A focus on planning and teaching social dance, fundamental athletics skills and general gymnastics in developmentally appropriate ways, to children in the Primary years of school will be explicitly modelled with the opportunity for students to enhance their own abilities.
