Course overview
This foundation level course aims to develop an understanding of the relationship between diet, nutrition, exercise and health and on completion be able to provide general advice to apparently healthy clients. This course aligns with the program intent to apply evidence-based skills and knowledge to assess and improve health and wellbeing within a community setting.

Course learning outcomes
- Identify and use current Australian guidelines to provide appropriate general advice on nutrition for health, performance and recovery.
- Describe the basic functions of macronutrients and micronutrients, their common sources, and their role in energy balance, and general health and well-being.
- Identifies implications of a basic dietary analysis for general health and wellbeing, with consideration of strengths and limitations of assessment methods.
- Recognise signs of inappropriate dietary behaviours across a range of health and exercise contexts and identify appropriate referral options.
- Describe the role of diet in the development and management of chronic diseases and obesity
