Overview

Turn your ambition into professional experience from day one with Adelaide University's Bachelor of Business (Project Management) (Degree Apprenticeship).

This innovative four-year degree combines paid, full-time employment with university study, allowing you to develop project management expertise while working with an industry partner. You'll build a strong foundation in business while developing the technical knowledge, leadership skills and practical capabilities needed to plan, coordinate and deliver complex projects.

Study project planning, scheduling, risk management, procurement, stakeholder engagement, logistics and sustainability while strengthening your communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Throughout the degree, you'll apply what you learn in authentic workplace settings through hybrid courses that integrate academic study with supervised industry experience.

Graduate with more than a qualification. You'll have professional experience, valuable industry connections and the confidence to lead projects across sectors including defence, infrastructure, construction, technology, government and professional services.

What you'll learn

This degree combines business fundamentals with specialist project management knowledge and extensive workplace learning.

You'll begin by building core business skills in economics, management, marketing and business law, alongside the foundations of project management. As your studies progress, you'll develop expertise in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, methodologies and the tools used to deliver successful projects.

You will learn how to identify and manage project risks, work effectively with stakeholders, oversee procurement and resources, and coordinate projects across complex organisations. You'll also explore logistics, infrastructure, sustainability and systems thinking, helping you understand how projects create value across industries.

A defining feature of this degree is its hybrid learning model. Five courses integrate your university studies with supervised workplace learning, allowing you to apply classroom concepts directly to real organisational projects while receiving guidance from both academic staff and experienced industry mentors.

Throughout the program, you'll strengthen highly transferable professional skills including communication, leadership, teamwork, critical thinking and ethical decision-making. You'll also complete Adelaide University's Common Core courses, exploring topics such as innovation, artificial intelligence, ethics, cultural capability and First Nations knowledges.

In your final year, you'll undertake advanced professional practice and an industry-informed research project, drawing on your workplace experience to investigate and solve authentic project management challenges.

By graduation, you'll have developed both the technical expertise and professional confidence to manage projects in fast-changing industries.

How a Degree Apprenticeship works

Unlike a traditional university degree, a Degree Apprenticeship combines full-time paid employment with your studies.

You'll be employed by one of Adelaide University's industry partners while completing your degree over four years. As you learn new concepts in class, you'll apply them in the workplace on real projects, supported by both academic staff and experienced industry mentors. Five hybrid courses are specifically designed to connect your university learning with your professional role, helping you build practical skills throughout your degree.

When you graduate, you'll have more than a qualification—you'll have years of professional experience, established industry networks and the confidence that comes from applying your knowledge in real workplaces from the very beginning.
