Mac update: farewell High Sierra

Are you running an old operating system on your Apple Mac computer? You may need to upgrade.

macOS High Sierra – End of Support, September 2020

In September 2020, Apple will discontinue support for macOS 10.13 High Sierra. We highly recommend upgrading to macOS Catalina before that time. With a majority of Mac owners already upgraded, you can expect minimal disruption.

macOS 10.13 High Sierra and previous systems will be considered unsupported and represent a security vulnerability. These systems will be subject to restricted or disabled network and service access after September.

macOS 10.15 Catalina

macOS Catalina is a free upgrade available from the App Store  providing the latest security features and performance enhancements. Apple and Information Technology & Digital Services recommend users are running the latest operating system when possible. We recommend all Mac users review our macOS Catalina Information website for a summary of important changes that affect users with older software.

How to upgrade

University Owned Mac: Ensure you are enrolled in Mac Self Service and follow the Upgrade to macOS self-help guide.

Personally Owned Mac: Please refer to Apple's How to Upgrade  guide.
