Six UofA students awarded at International Student Awards
StudyAdelaide recently announced the winners and highly commended students of their annual International Student Awards. Six University of Adelaide students received awards for their achievements and we offer our congratulations to them on their success.
The annual International Student Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of South Australia’s international students.
Yeganeh Soltanpour (from Iran) won the category Student Event of the Year for her event ‘The Virtual Library’, an event much needed during the COVID-19 pandemic that provided students with support, opportunities to socialise, and a place to focus during a time when use of the physical library was limited.
Jessica Bohorquez (from Colombia) was Highly Commended in the category Academic Excellence: (Research) for her high quality journal publications and participation in the Three Minute Thesis competition.
Hemlata Karki (from Bhutan) was Highly Commended in the category Academic Excellence: Postgraduate (Coursework) for her outstanding academic results and work campaigning for gender equality.
Preeti Maharjan (from Nepal) was Highly Commended in the category Community Engagement for her dedication to volunteering with those who in need, ranging from the elderly to disadvantaged children.
Hien Minh Vu (from Vietnam) was also Highly Commended in the category Community Engagement for his volunteering work helping international students transition to living in Adelaide amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Oscar Ong (from Malaysia) was Highly Commended in the new category Support and Advocacy for his dedication to providing the University of Adelaide’s international students with a voice and helping to get the COVID-19 Student Support Package up and running.
