Senior Executive Mission visits Southeast Asia

Senior delegates from the University of Adelaide, including Professor Jessica Gallagher, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement) and representatives from the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, and Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics, recently embarked on a Senior Executive Mission to Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

The delegation met with 17 stakeholder groups in the region, including partner institutes and government ministries and representatives, to strengthen existing engagement and collaboration, provide institutional updates, and enhance the University’s international profile.

The Mission also provided an opportunity to connect with University of Adelaide alumni in the region through three 150th celebrations. Over 80 guests attended a key 150th celebration event in Malaysia, where guests enjoyed a Q&A session with Professor Hijjas Kasturi AM, a distinguished architect, educator and University alumnus, and patron of the University of Adelaide’s Malaysian Alumni Network.

In Indonesia, the University of Adelaide was especially pleased to sign a credit transfer (dual award) agreement with IPB University and visit Mulawarman University (UNMUL) in East Kalimantan, with a dual award agreement also signed with UNMUL after the Mission.

In the Philippines, the delegation broadened its strong engagement and collaboration with key partners and stakeholders and met with the Australian Ambassador to the Philippines.

The University of Adelaide is proud of its meaningful engagement in Southeast Asia, and looks forward to further strengthening its partnerships in the region to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes for our local and global communities.
