IPAS Student Research Presentation
- Date: Thu, 20 Feb 2020, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
- Location: The Braggs Building, Level 2
Every year IPAS runs an Annual Student Research Event. All IPAS students (Honours, Masters, PhD, writing up or visiting students) are invited to participate to give a 3-minute talk (followed by an additional question time) on their research.
Patrick Capon - Perfect Peptides for Fibre Functionalisation
- Date: Thu, 27 Feb 2020, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
- Location: The Braggs Building, Level 2
The goal of my PhD was to develop an apparatus that realises the laser-cooling, trapping, and loading of rubidium atoms into a kagome-lattice hollow-core fibre.

Myles Clark - So what’s all this about CubeSats?
- Date: Thu, 5 Mar 2020, 11:10 am - 12:00 pm
- Location: The Braggs Building, Level 2
What is a CubeSat anyway? How do you make them? Are they actually any good at producing science data? At making a company money? (Spoilers: Yes and Yes).

ZOOM meeting IPAS Seminars
- Date: Thu, 19 Mar 2020, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
- Location: The Braggs level 2
For a safer and larger get-together, we are converting the IPAS weekly seminars into ZOOM-delivered series. In this way we will be able to keep informed of ongoing IPAS research activities whilst also providing a way of keeping in touch with one another.

A/Prof Tony Hooker - Radiation – basic concepts, current and future challenges to risk based regulation
- Date: Thu, 16 Apr 2020, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
- Location: ZOOM meeting
Communication of radiation risk at low doses is an ongoing challenge. The challenge arises in part because regulatory controls are enforced on low dose radiation exposure even when the radiation dose is below annual background levels or the member of public limit of 1 mSv. There is clear scientific uncertainty about the risks at such low doses
