Getting outside into nature

I used to just go for a walk without a care in the world. Down to the beach, the bush, anywhere I wanted. Unfortunately, we have to change the way we do things to stop the spread of coronavirus. This means limiting going out, working from home and pretty much keeping clear of other people (reclusive people must be thriving). So, I can’t catch a train out to somewhere and hike up a mountain, then get a bus back and walk through the mall on my way home. Living in the city certainly makes this difficult. However, I find that even the smallest things can make a big difference in feeling connected to nature and getting some fresh air.

 

Simply taking 10 or 15 minutes in your backyard to look at the sky and that motley, half-dead bush can make me feel clearer headed. Gardening also makes a huge difference. Watching what you plant grow and thrive can be a real pick-me-up and make you feel more outside. Additionally, we may have to change our actions, but you can still get out and exercise in nature (just as long as you’re alone). I have found there are some really secluded walking tracks that are safe, green, full of trees and free of people. With this in mind, connecting with nature and not feeling cooped up can be done through multiple activities.

 

So, as I snack all day and empty out the contents of peanut butter jars, I fill them up with a little succulent, and coronavirus can succ-ulent it, I will not be defeated!!!
