Recipe for delicious homemade brownies
This weekend I went to the Stirling markets with my beautiful friend and we shared a brownie. It was a DELICIOUS, RICH, SWEET brownie with white and milk chocolate chips inside.
As I demolished my half, and lost some crumbs to the ground beneath my feet, I remembered the amazing brownie recipe in my mum’s recipe scrap book on the top shelf of the kitchen cupboard at home. The crunchy top and the soft, warm, chewy inside that makes your mouth water… mmm…oh, and the corner slice of the brownie is actually the BOMB! Yeah, I’m getting a little too excited...
But if YOU, yes you! Are a chocolate or dessert lover and want to experience the same sensation, the pure and utter joy when you first start to smell it baking in the oven… The way it goes from a satisfying, crumbling crunch to a gorgeous, soft and chewy inside as you take your first, and certainly not last, bite out of one of the world’s best desserts of all time, then just follow this simple recipe! You will not regret it!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of baking cocoa
- 150g of butter
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups of sugar
- ¾ cups of plain flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 packet of milk and/or white or dark chocolate (whatever you prefer)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven 150 degrees
- Melt butter
- Mix melted butter with baking cocoa
- Add 4 eggs
- Add sugar and mix it all in
- Sift plain flour and baking powder, and mix
- Add chocolate buttons and mix
- Pour mixture in tray
- Lick the bowl
- Leave in oven for 50 minutes, until the top is firm
- When done, let it cool for a while then cut into squares or rectangles
- Then it the whole thing to yourself because you deserve it! (…or share it…)
Note that you are very welcome to add other ingredients to make it your own. Like chunks of your favourite chocolate candy bar, peanut butter, chopped nuts, caramel, crushed peppermints, chunks of cookies, Oreos, marshmallows, sprinkles, or even fruit like raspberries or any cherries. You could even make a cheesecake brownie! Or if you really wanted to, you could add all of that to make one EPIC brownie! (Although, I’d be slightly concerned if you did). But my point is, is that the possibilities are endless when it comes to constructing the perfect brownie for you. Another option could be to sprinkle a bit of Icing sugar or spread icing on top of the brownie when it’s ready.
Brownies also can come in different forms, for example, brownie bites or brownie cookies. These recipes and many others can be found on multiple websites on the internet if you are interested. Brownies are the perfect desserts to wow your friends at parties/gatherings, for work gatherings, for your family, for when you’re bored out of your brains, for when you need something sweet, or even when you feel like you need to eat your feelings on a lonely Friday night.
Now as you start preparing your mixture, I shall leave you with a poem...
An Ode to Brownies:
Dear chocolate square from heaven,
I can’t live without the taste
Of chocolate, eggs, milk, flour, sugar,
When I see you, I rush in haste.
You’re firm and don’t fall apart,
Yet at the slightest bite
You melt in my mouth
Nice and soft, just right.
Shaped like a cube
As brown as my eyes,
I always see you around,
But every time you are a surprise.
The waft of chocolate hits me
And I almost want to faint
You smell so perfectly
So sweet, rich, and quaint.
Brownie, I adore you,
Like I adore a dear friend
Your pleasant taste, smell, and feel
Satisfies me to no end.
