Summer Staples

As spring is coming to a close, it is time to update your life and collect a few staple pieces to survive and thrive in the new season.

Whether it’s clothing pieces or other necessities, here’s a list of five things you need to survive summer:

  • Summer outfits: Dressing for the weather is obviously a necessity. A few staple wardrobe pieces I recommend are simple basic coloured tops and a couple good pairs of jeans or shorts. Mismatching these basic tops and bottoms are easy outfit ideas, and perfect for the weather too! If you are an avid dress-wearer, I recommend a couple of summer dresses too. These are perfect for a beach picnic or walk. Another summer essential is claw clips. These are the perfect hair accessory if you have long hair, to not only tie your hair up but add a finishing touch to your outfit.

  • Sunscreen: Sunscreen is probably the most important necessity on this list. Taking care of your skin and reducing the risk of sunburn is so important! Make sure to invest in a good brand, and apply regularly when you’re going out in the sun.

  • Water bottle: Staying hydrated is also so important, especially in Australia’s crazy summer weather. It’s a smart idea to buy a good, insulated water bottle for the summer, and make sure to carry it everywhere you go! Not only will a water bottle keep you hydrated, but you can save money on other drinks if you take it out with you.

  • Towels and a picnic blanket: If you’re planning to spend a lot of time at the beach this summer, I recommend investing in cute, patterned towels. A good quality picnic blanket is also an essential for summer. Whether it's at the beach or at a park, picnics are a great activity for the good weather.

  • Shoes: A good pair of slip-on sandals are also necessary for hot summer days. If you're going out, or even just throwing on a pair of shoes to grab something from the shops; a pair of Birkenstocks of Crocs are essential.

By checking off this list of summer essentials, you’re basically guaranteed to have a great season.  Just remember to always wear sunscreen, drink lots of water, and have fun!
