Is the break finished already?

Even though a break was well needed to recharge you after the start of the semester, getting back into being in classes and the routine of study can be difficult.

We all fall victim to the first week back in classes, but there are plenty of things you can do to ensure you have a successful second half of the semester.

  1. Make sure you attend your classes, in person or online. It can be very easy to stay in holiday mode, especially the first week. This sets you up for a successful start back and ensures you have all the information about upcoming assignments or exams.

  2. Sticking to a timetable or schedule that balances eases back into study with other commitments, this makes sure that you have realistic goals coming back.  Allow for some flexibility in this schedule, we all know that things come up that you weren’t expecting.

  3. Find some study spots that allow you to work best and that you enjoy being in, my favourite is the Library. Inviting some friends to join you in these study spots can also motivate you to get back into the swing of things.

For some students this might be the first break they’ve had at uni, this can be very daunting to know what your expected to have done once you come back. Trial and error can help you to narrow down the best strategies going forward. Getting back into study is hard for everyone, prioritise what works for you so you can have a successful second half of semester 1!
