Career outcomes
The career landscape in business analytics and financial planning is changing fast. The industry is moving away from basic administration and is looking for professionals who can use advanced data tools to build tailored financial plans.
Professionals who bridge the gap between human financial advice and advanced data analytics are the professionals who combine financial advice with data analytics, helping everyday people and fast-growing organisations make high-impact life decisions with certainty.
You might design tailored investment and retirement models for a premier wealth management firm, using advanced predictive tools to build portfolios for clients. You may partner with a corporate superannuation fund, using data analytics to develop customised advice programs that help members secure their futures. Or, you could guide high-growth startups and family enterprises as a strategic financial advisor, helping them navigate complex regulatory and market landscapes using real-time scenario modelling.
Where else could this take you?
- Wealth management and advisory designing tailored wealth-building strategies for private and corporate clients.
- Superannuation and retirement strategy developing large-scale, tech-supported retirement portfolios and structures.
- Fintech product design creating the next generation of data-driven personal finance and investment apps.
- Compliance and regulatory strategy using predictive software to navigate complex financial system rules and protect client assets.
- Enterprise risk and insurance planning helping businesses and families shield themselves from market and life volatility.
Industry trends
The financial planning sector is undergoing a profound digital evolution as client expectations and technology collide. Global industry reports highlight that advisers are increasingly using AI and advanced digital tools, with 85% pointing out that AI frees up valuable face-to-face client time by handling complex portfolio constructions and automated compliance.
Simultaneously, consumer surveys show a massive surge in demand for technology-supported finance, with nearly 58% of Gen Z expecting AI and automated systems to play a central role in their financial transactions.
Adelaide University meets this high-demand shift head-on, combining deep financial advisory standards with advanced analytics so you can confidently step into this high-tech, highly rewarding career.
