Career outcomes
Investment decisions shape the cities we live in, the businesses that grow and the assets that create long-term value. Professionals who understand both financial markets and property help organisations, investors and communities make informed decisions about where money should be invested and how opportunities can be managed.
You might become an investment analyst, assessing opportunities across financial and property markets for banks, investment firms or asset managers. You may work as a property analyst or valuer, helping investors understand the risks and potential returns of major developments and real estate assets. You could become a portfolio analyst, managing investments across property, shares and alternative assets. Or you might work in corporate finance, helping organisations fund growth, evaluate acquisitions and make strategic investment decisions.
With expertise across finance and property, you may also explore careers in:
- funds management
- asset management
- property development
- banking and lending
- investment advisory
- real estate investment.
Industry trends
Property remains one of Australia's most important types of investment.
According to the Australian Property Institute, population growth, housing supply constraints, construction costs and interest rates continue to influence property values and investment activity across the country.
At the same time, Jobs and Skills Australia projects that professional occupations will grow by 21.4% by 2035, reflecting ongoing demand for analytical and investment-focused skills.
The World Economic Forum also identifies AI and big data among the fastest-growing skills globally, reinforcing the importance of data-informed investment and financial decision-making.
Adelaide University prepares graduates to make informed investment decisions across property and financial markets, combining investment expertise with practical industry knowledge.
