Growing International Linkages through Australia Awards Fellowships

The University of Adelaide has been successful with three submissions from the latest round of Australia Awards Fellowships, which will promote collaboration with a number of international partners across India, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Australia Awards Fellowships aim to build networks of influence and leadership by strengthening partnerships between Australian organisations and partner organisations in the Indo-Pacific region, by providing short-term opportunities for in-Australia study, research and professional development activities. These Fellowships target senior and mid-career officials and professionals who are in a position to advance development outcomes in priority areas and increase the institutional capacity of partner countries through their leadership.

Two submissions led by the University of Adelaide’s JBI Institute were successful for the 2023/24 round of funding.

The ‘Toward Universal Health in the Philippines: Health Workforce Development in Evidence Synthesis’ will see the University partner with De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute and The Center for Health Research and Movement Science at the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines to design and deliver an academically robust and highly experiential training program for up to 12 mid-career academics and clinicians.

JBI will also be working with the Manbhum Ananda Ashram Nityananda Trust (MANT) and the Centre for Public Health Research (CPHR) on Implementing Evidence Based Health Interventions to Close the Gap in India.

Dr Nam Nghiep Tran, Associate Dean International, Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology will be leading a Fellowship involving a range of international partners, including the University of the Philippines Mindanao, Mindanao State University, INTI International University, Taylor’s University, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Vellore Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, and CEPT University on 'Academic Skills Development in a Digital World: A Capacity Development Program for Tertiary Educators, insights from the University of Adelaide's 2023-2018’.
