Post-exam void
Exams are all done. I am free. So free in fact, I have no idea what to do…
Ever since I’ve had my major assessments for the year and my looming exams, I’ve had an anxious pit in my stomach. A feeling that I should always be doing something productive. This usually leads me to doing something unproductive. So now that all my university stress and worries are over, what do I do? At the moment I’ve been sleeping in, eating, and then pretty much doing whatever pops into my head. I wasted two hours yesterday building a castle for snails out of cardboard boxes (it’s called Buckingham palace and has stairs and a drawbridge). So what do you fill up your time with once university work is out of the way?
I think it’s starting to wear off, but I still feel like I should be doing something. Like, I’m not doing what I should be. What I’m hoping to have is more time to cook, and not just cook food but really, really good food. My exam period meals consisted of rice and vegetables, pretty much. What they lacked in flavour they made up for in nutritional value. It’s not just cooking. I’m working through my me time list to get myself back on track. It’s got some trivial stuff, but it keeps my on track:
- Sell the old bike I don’t use
- Clean my room
- Christmas shopping
- Plan my friend’s birthday
- Go to the market
- Look for jobs
- Update my CV
Amongst all this: Celebrate. It’s not every day you finish your exam period, and you’ve got to celebrate the milestones no matter how big or small. So tonight it’s going to be me, the couch, and a tub of ice-cream.
