House mates: Episode 8 - The end
The end of the year has come. Everyone is going their separate ways. What will the future hold?
It’s always difficult at the end of another year. Everyone starts saying, ‘I don’t know why but this year went so quickly’ (as they said last year). Everyone gets a bit nostalgic. One of the challenges with forming bonds in a share house is saying goodbye when the year comes to an end and everyone goes their separate ways. Our first housemate left yesterday. A short 22 hour flight back to Argentina. I left for home in Tasmania before Christmas and am still unsure where to live next. The next housemate went over the Christmas holidays. Two are remaining in the house.
A few days of nonstop doing and going and having fun and we’re all tired and a bit done with the year. We made some great memories. Now we’re in the stage of saying all of our goodbyes and promising to catch up and see a lot of each other in the new year. As always, I’m skeptical. Unfortunately from my experience, distance and business change friendships and don’t make catching up an easy task. However, I’ve had a great year and made some great memories and I’m looking forward to the next one. Whether we catch up again next year or not the memories will stay.
So here is a shout out to my housemates for 2019: Ollie, Vartan, Hamzy, and Harry (and Chuck the honorary housemate). Thanks for a good year, and may the force be with you all…
