Starting a club

There are countless clubs at The University of Adelaide. They range from the most niche and abstract areas to entire faculty associates. Despite the multitude of clubs, I've found it hard to find a club community where I become completely immersed in. In my experience, most clubs struggle to maintain consistent events and half of them seem to have died out as individuals have come and gone from university.

It's difficult to find your niche and stick to it. It seems for me that I haven't really found my niche yet and that most of the current clubs make it hard to form a community and consistent commitment. Coronavirus certainly hasn't helped. Then it hit me! If I am struggling to find my passion and a consistent community, why not start my own?

I need an idea that will bring people together in a supportive community and activity. I also need an idea that lends itself to having an event every week. There are so any possibilities. I love food, nature and the environment, social sport and nerding out. At the same time I don't want to start a club that I can't commit to and the idea of forming a constitution and getting insurance and organising funds seems a little bit daunting. I feel like my constitution would descend into a document of pure silliness with members, "pledging to have an awesome time and maximum fun under article 34''. However, the idea fills me with so much excitement. I'm hoping I can bring organisation, commitment and fun together in a well rounded club as I endeavor on this journey. So keep an eye out for any new or exciting clubs coming in semester two!
