Face to face semester two
When semester two returns on July 27th, The University of Adelaide will be returning to face-to-face learning (student information). Being away from face-to-face learning has made me appreciate it much more as opposed to online. When I'm learning online it seems that my motivation, engagement and grades go out the window and I merely try to meet assessment by assessment as they come.
However, its not just been the education I've been struggling with. Meeting and getting to know my lecturers as well as other members of the class is something that I've been missing. I draw a sense of comradery with classmates and even lecturers when undertaking courses face-to-face. I feel like I gain networks and friends and have felt a bit of a void when learning from home.
Even when completing exams, I found that I missed the traditional way of undertaking exams in the big, dank and cold venue out at Wayville. Or the sense of dread you get from a class when everyone has their heads down trying to bust out the final assignment/essay.
Most of all, campus culture is something that I have missed. The little pop-up stalls on market day, the never ending events and free apples from student health and well-being and the Union events showering me in free food. As semester two draws nearer and nearer I am planning to make up for the time I feel I have lost. As the saying goes, 'you don't know what you've got until it's gone'. But in this case, the University isn't gone and we can all come back and reconnect with all the student experiences we've been missing out on in online learning.
Pumped for semester two ! Vive la face-to-face learning !
