Bringing back my childhood

The sunsets over a tree branch

Sometimes it still amazes me that certain milestones in my life have come and gone and new ones are on the horizon. One of these milestones was my childhood. Here are some of my top nostalgic activities as a kid.

The Maccas playground:

Does anyone else miss playing on the McDonald’s playground? The greasy slide, the helicopter glass look-out ball on the top? I felt like the king of the world when I was up there! Not to mention discovering the new maze of tunnels and slides at each playground.

Climbing trees:

I don’t climb trees enough anymore. I feel like I was a fearless little monkey that would revel at any chance to wrap my fingers and toes around some scraggy bark. I need to get back up there and swing from the branches!

Playing with Lego:

I was, and still am, a huge fan of Lego. The creativity, the designs and all the different shapes, colours and combinations are great for every brain! Not just developing ones. I need to have a scrounge around in our old Lego box at home and see what I can come up with over the Summer.

Jumping over everything and getting bruises:

I swear as a kid I would climb and jump on anything all day, every day. I would wake up in the mornings with new bruises but every time I fell over, I would just get back up and keep going until the sun went down. Nowadays, it is more like I jump on some rocks at the beach and wake up with a big bruise that pains me for a week. Or over excerpt my old ankle if I don’t warm up.

So maybe these are some things I need to try again to bring back my childhood.
