Songs for serotonin
I’ve compiled some songs that never fail to put a smile on my face.
I recently read an interview on Frankie Magazine on how music can impact our mental health. In the interview, Dr. Elly Scrine (music therapist, research, and musician – talk about the coolest job title ever, right???), notes that music activates the happy part of our brain but highlights that a song is not one size fits all. She explains that our responses to music depend on our mental, physical and emotional state among other factors and I 100% agree.
Some people might associate Frank Ocean’s songs with happy thoughts while others view his music as the perfect weekly cry session song. I literally press skip so fast when White Ferrari comes on my playlist because that song could instantly make my eyes teary but don’t worry, I won’t be sharing any heart-wrenching songs with you today. I know that with the recent terrible weather and finals approaching in a couple of weeks, we need some tunes that’ll boost our serotonin!
