Non-traditional research outputs (NTROs)
Non-traditional research outputs (NTROs) are activities or events that arise from your research.
These NTROs are not typically published in the conventional sense and can be hard to find in traditional databases, Google Scholar or library searches. However, they have an important role in demonstrating the impact a researcher has had in their field.

Examples of NTROs
There are a range of different examples of NTROs - eligible research output types which include but are not limited to the following:
-
Original creative works
-
Live performance of creative works
-
Recorded/rendered creative works
-
Curated or produced substantial public exhibitions and events
-
Research reports for an external body
-
Portfolio
-
Transcribed items or letters

Adding NTROs to Aurora and AR&S
NTROs can be added to your Adelaide Research & Scholarship and your University of Adelaide Researcher Profile by manually entering the details into Aurora, under ‘Publications’.
Under Publications there are the following NTRO subcategories:
-

-
Curated or produced public exhibition or event.
-

For support with entering items into Aurora, please see the Aurora support guides.

Measuring NTRO impact
The impact of NTROs is difficult to measure using traditional or research databases such as Scopus or Web of Science as they do not index NTROs.
If an NTRO has a unique identifier (such as a DOI) then it may be tracked in Altmetric Explorer.
You can also view statistics on how many times your output on Adelaide Research & Scholarship has been viewed, and from which countries, by clicking on the statistics button on the item record.
