Artificial Intelligence Literacy Framework

The University Library's Artificial Intelligence Literacy Framework (AILF) is a comprehensive guide designed to equip students with essential skills for navigating the world of artificial intelligence.

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to transform various sectors, understanding and using AI responsibly is crucial. The AI Literacy Framework aims to help students recognise and understand AI, apply AI technology appropriately, evaluate AI-generated information, and use AI tools ethically in their studies and future careers.

Developed in collaboration with academic and professional staff, the framework is organised into four key dimensions:

  • Recognise and Understand
  • Use and Apply
  • Evaluate and Critique
  • Reflect and Respect

Each dimension outlines specific competencies and provides examples of training content to support students in developing critical AI skills.

The framework is part of the University Library's commitment to supporting students in the digital age and aligns with the Learning and Teaching AI Action Plan (LTAAP) working group, as part of the Education in a Digital World (EDW) strategy implementation.
