Researchers, have you heard about figshare as a place to publish your research data?
Publishing your data raises your profile, and allows publicly-funded research to be shared for the benefit of other researchers and the general public. Funders and publishers are also requiring that research data be published.
To make publishing your data as easy as possible, the University has chosen figshare as our default data repository. You can publish research datasets, conference posters and presentations, software code, videos and more. The process is quick and easy, and you select a licence (CC-BY default) and DOI. You can also reserve a DOI for future use and embargo release for a set time.
Colleagues who have recently uploaded items to figshare include Dr Rakesh David, ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Energy Biology and Dr Helen Barrie, School of Humanities and Social Sciences
Dr David uploaded a conference poster regarding the CropTIPS website and database he has developed and it had 6 downloads within a week, while Dr Barrie uploaded 4 files, including South Australian Retirement Villages survey factsheets, and these had 7 downloads in only one week.
Interested? Please visit the figshare support site for more information, help and to login. If you already publish your data in a discipine specific repository you can help generate more hits by creating a short linked record in figshare. Please note that research publications and theses are still handled via Aurora and Adelaide Research & Scholarship.
