Elder Music Library closure

sheet music

Today the Elder Music Library, located in the Hartley Building, will close its doors for the last time at 5:00 pm.

The Music Collection will then re-open on Level 1 of the Barr Smith Library on Monday 23 July – just in time for the beginning of Semester 2.

The Music Collection is one of the largest collections of classical music material held in Australia. Since 2002, this collection has been constantly expanding, starting with the amalgamation of the Fulton Library of the South Australian College of Advanced Education, and the library of the Flinders Street School of Music.

The longer opening hours and centrally-situated location of the Barr Smith Library will help to ensure this collection is more accessible for all, and we hope you will enjoy the tailor-made space.

During the move, all of the Music Collection’s items are being transported and prepared for their new location and will be unavailable for borrowing or requesting. If you have any questions about this process, please email Ask Library or call 8313 5759. Once the relocation is complete, all the usual CDs, books, and scores will be available for loan again! This includes the monumenta, orchestral, and musical DVD collections.

We look forward to unveiling the new-look Music Collection on Level 1 of the Barr Smith Library on Monday 23 July.
