Lecture 9/8 - Demystifying research metrics

This lecture is targeted at staff and students who are publishing or who plan to publish in the future, and is particularly aimed at research students and Early Career Researchers.

It will examine the nature of bibliometrics and almetrics measurements, and why they are important for researchers.

This lecture will:

  • Provide an overview of what bibliometrics and altmetrics mean
  • Review research profiles in Scopus
  • Explore these metrics:
    • Author h-index
    • Article metrics including altmetrics
    • Journal Ranking metrics
