Refreshed study space on Level 2 - now open!

We're excited to announce that Level 2 North of the Barr Smith Library is now open for quiet study, with more improvements on the way! Over the next couple of months, you can expect brand new furniture to enhance your study environment, and the return of our collections for easier access to resources.

Upward trend in Library usage

The University Library’s space usage has increased since 2022, with the data indicating a return to pre-pandemic levels of access! Within the first half of 2023, physical visits to the Library were at 299,458, which is a 76,000 increase compared to the previous year.

Level 2 North closed for refurbishment

The Barr Smith Library Level 2 North is currently closed for the next stage in our refurbishments. This upgrade will improve student study spaces, with upgrades including re-carpeting, new paintwork, increased natural light and the creation of new study spaces.
