Spring has sprung

An archway of wisteria flowers

Spring is one of my favourite times of the year. There is that two-week window where all the flowers are blooming, and the trees are in blossom and their fragrant smells fill the air. You get an array of colours, shapes, and textures at every turn and the weather gets warmer by the day (also warmer by the year with our changing climate). However, I always enjoy this time of year.

A refreshing perspective

This time of year always gives me a refreshing perspective on life. I see how quickly nature responds to subtle changes in the season and how quickly new life springs into the surrounds. One of my favourite flowers are the wisteria. The well-crafted wisteria arches in the botanic gardens come to life and attract a mob of people to marvel at their fragrant smell and bright hanging colours. It also makes me think of my home.  My home always comes to life during spring as mum has an array of flowers everywhere and spring always takes me back.

Another summer ahead

One thing that does play on my mind whilst I stop and smell the roses is the 2020/21 summer that is looming ahead. After such a devastating bushfire season last summer, I’m sure this year has Australia worried. As challenging as it was, I believe last year’s bushfire crisis was a wake-up call to better plan and prevent bushfires seasons here in Australia and to take further action on mitigating our changing climate. For the time being I am just trying to enjoy the spring season and make the most of the colourful new growth and sunnier days.
