Career outcomes
Understand both the numbers and the assets behind them.
Property is one of the world's largest asset classes, and organisations rely on professionals who can understand both financial performance and the value of physical assets. Combining accounting and property expertise opens opportunities across investment, development, valuation and corporate decision-making.
You might become a property valuer, assessing the worth of residential, commercial or industrial assets that shape cities and communities. You may work as a development analyst, helping evaluate major projects and investment opportunities before they are built. You could become a property investment associate, analysing market trends and financial performance to guide investment decisions. Or you might pursue a career as an accountant or auditor, supporting organisations whose success is tied to property and infrastructure assets.
With expertise across accounting and property, you may also explore careers in:
- asset management
- property funds management
- taxation and compliance
- corporate advisory
- banking and lending
- property development.
Industry trends
Property and real assets continue to play a central role in Australia's economy, with population growth, housing supply challenges and major infrastructure investment influencing demand across property markets. The Australian Property Institute reports that residential property values are being shaped by factors including population growth, housing supply constraints and construction costs.
At the same time, Jobs and Skills Australia projects employment growth across professional occupations, while accounting occupations already employ more than 215,000 Australians and record annual employment growth of 5,800.
These trends highlight growing demand for graduates who can combine financial expertise with an understanding of property markets, valuation and investment. Adelaide University prepares you to work confidently across both disciplines.
