Rest, refresh, re-energise: sleep pods at the Barr Smith Library

New sleep pod next to the Recreational Reading Collection

The Barr Smith Library has just become the first library in South Australia to introduce sleep pods, providing our students with an innovative way to recharge during their busy schedules. Sleep pods have been a popular request every year from our students, and now you can finally try one out for yourself. These state-of-the-art EnergyPods are designed to offer a quick and effective way to rejuvenate. They feature a privacy visor, sleep timer, adjustable seat, and can even play calming music to help you relax!

Research shows that a short nap of just 20 minutes can significantly improve alertness and clear the mind. These restorative naps are perfect for students looking to boost energy levels before their next class or study session. Whether you're cramming for exams, working on a big project, or simply need a moment of peace, these pods will help you rest, refresh, and re-energise.

The purchase of these sleep pods has been made possible through generous funding from Medibank. This initiative underscores the importance of mental and physical well-being in academic success, promoting a healthier and more productive lifestyle for students.

See how a short, restorative nap can transform your day! Currently located in the atrium on Level 2 of the Barr Smith Library (just outside the Reading Room).
