The University will be closed for business on Friday 18 December 2020 through to Sunday 10 January 2021, and will reopen in the New Year on Monday 11 January 2021.

First Closedown Period (in accordance with Schedule 8 of the Enterprise Agreement)

Friday 18 December 2020 to Thursday 24 December 2020 inclusive.  Purchased leave will apply during this closedown period.

*Payment cannot be guaranteed for casual staff who submit timesheets after the Timesheet Submission Deadline. Timesheets submitted late do not generate an email to the validator nor do they escalate until the following fortnight.  Timesheet validation and reminder e-mail notifications will be adjusted to the timesheet validation schedule detailed above.

**  University closedown periods apply to all staff including casual staff.  Casual staff will not be required to work during closedown periods.

*** Timesheet submission and approval process for work done in the fortnight 19 Dec - 01 Jan will be done through offline timesheets. No online submission or approval as notified to casual employees and timesheet validators via e-mail on 16 Nov 2020.

**Note that prior to the approvals, the requests will work flow to HR for a compliance check. Requests completed incorrectly will require follow-up, which will delay the contract issue and payment process

***Dates provided above allow the necessary time for: (a) preparation of contract and subsequent approvals (7 days) and (b) for the staff member to then consider the offer (14 days). Recruitment and Appointments team will continue to process in order of priority of start date and/or date received. Provided the staff member accepts prior to the 6:00am date they will be paid in accordance with relevant pay period.


Advertising

Online

Due to the Christmas Closedown being extended as a result of the EAV, advertising will close earlier than in previous years.

Due to compressed pay weeks and in to enable issuing and acceptance of contracts to be completed in a timely manner prior to Christmas closedown, any roles which need to be advertised prior to Christmas must be received by the Recruitment and Appointments team in Page Up (fully approved) by close of business on 20 November 2020. This will enable sufficient time for an internal sourcing process to run and a subsequent external process to commence if no suitable candidates are identified internally. 

To enable this deadline to be met, please ensure that any exceptions to the hiring freeze, which need to be advertised prior to Christmas, are submitted to cfo@adelaide.edu.au by no later than 6 November to enable sufficient time for requests to be considered and the outcome advised. 

For academic roles which require a minimum of 28 days advertising for the purposes of Labour Market Testing for possible visa sponsorship please give consideration to delaying recruitment processes to the New Year where this is possible. As the University will be closed for an extended period, it is not desirable to have positions open for long periods during this time as interested candidates will not be able to contact anyone with queries or address any technical issues with applications.

Any recruitment advertising received after 20 November will not be advertised until the University reopens on 11 January 2021.

Print

Last print edition and approved request via PageUp will be COB Friday 20 November 2020.

Any advertising requests received through PageUp after this time will not be processed until the New Year.

Market research on candidate response rates to advertising over the Christmas and New Year period shows a low level of candidate responses and a reduction in eligible candidates applying for roles. We have therefore implemented an advertising cut off period to ensure that you receive the best possible outcome from advertising.

Should you choose to advertise roles in December please ensure all advertising cut off dates reflect your ability to respond to candidates in a timely manner, i.e. if you are unable to respond to candidates until the beginning of January we would advise that the cut-off date of your position reflects this date to manage candidate expectations relating to their acknowledgement.
