Sea Snakes, Scholarly Sharing and Open Access
At the beginning of September an article in The Conversation reported the new discovery that a sea snake could breathe through the top of its head. It quickly became one of the most popular science and technology articles for 2019, with over 43,000 reads and being translated into Indonesian. Behind the story was an open access scholarly article.

New University Open Access Policy
A new Open Access Policy has been endorsed by Academic Board, formalising the University’s commitment to open access. The new policy seeks to increase the reach and impact of our research and education and has implications for both researchers and teaching staff.

BSL level 3 now open 24/7!
Level 3 of the Barr Smith Library is now open 24 hours a day, so you can study in the Library (or at least a part of the Library!) when you want to.
Library opening hours & swipe access
The Barr Smith library has recently introduced a change to our building access in the evenings which will align with Hub Central after-hours access and will also help improve security on campus.
Ira Raymond Room now open as study space
The Ira Raymond Room, located on level 3 of Hub Central near the Ask Library service point, is now open for student use!
