Student Access in the Barr Smith Library

The space adjacent to the main entrance of the Barr Smith Library will be revamped to support students with learning needs and neurodiversity.

Project details

The project includes refurbishment of the old book return space and offices near the level 3 Barr Smith Library ramp entrance, to create three new rooms.

A Consolidated Book Return will allow the space to be used more effectively.

An Adaptive Technology Room will include computers, technology and furniture that supports the learning of visually and audio impaired students, and others with special needs.

An Access Room will serve as a breakout space for neurodiverse students seeking a quiet, calm space. Development of this space was instigated by the UoA Disability, Illness and Divergence Association (DIDA)

Expected completion is February 2024
